Welcome to the
Hilton Valley Railway Website
.
This railway was one the three premier miniature railways of this gauge in the country.  Many people came from all corners of the British Isles to see this fascinating miniature railway moving thousands of people through the Sunday afternoons (2:30-7:00) from 1957 to 1979.  Now a private concern, the railway is been restored to the highest standards and historical accuracy available today. The line is and will be the most extensive historically restored miniature line in existence most certainly on the 71/4” gauge. Plans were afoot from the early 1990’s to begin a family project to restore the line, this began with the Evans family purchasing the Hilton House estate complete with the Hilton Valley Track bed. As a new millennium approached, my friends who had made contact through varying sources, joined with me to form a group of about ten or so people to assist me to reinstate the railway, complete with magical charm and all. Work is continuing presently at full pace in line with the lines fifty year celebrations. An event will be held to commemorate this with original drivers, railway and rolling stock. The event will be similar to that seen at the 1975 birthday party.
I very much welcome any interest, so if you visited the line yourself, perhaps have photos or are just interested, please do contact me at the HVR.
